Something Something Death Penalty

If you hadn't heard yet and have a strong stomach, here's what happened during an execution gone seriously wrong in Oklahoma.

Many have said plenty on the topic, so I'll keep my comments brief.

Actually, I'll just copy and paste a quote and leave it at that.

“We need to be kinder with one another, more gentle and forgiving. We need to be slower to anger and more prompt to help. We need to extend the hand of friendship and resist the hand of retribution. In short, we need to love one another with the pure love of Christ, with genuine charity and compassion and, if necessary, shared suffering, for that is the way God loves us.” - Howard W. Hunter

  1. Amen.
Can we learn from this? Why the hurry to kill another black man? Can it wait a week or 2 til you can figure out how not to TORTURE HIM?!

  2. Way way back in the 2011 I wrote a blog post/essay about capital punishment as the very first post on this blog...The guy this happened to apparently did some awful things if you trust the process that convicted him, but yikes. Seems like a civilized society should've come up with a better way to deal with its criminal elements by now.

  3. This is horrifying. I can't help but think of The Green Mile when they don't wet the sponge for the electric chair, which also leads me to believe that someone did this on purpose. Who knows?

    1. I was reminded of The Green Mile as well. It's a disturbing but powerful scene.
